Access to filed documents never depends on a licence.
What is never locked without a licence
Searching, viewing, printing and exporting documents already filed all work without a licence, with an invalid licence, and after uninstalling. The only limit is on taking in new pages, and only after the first 50.
No copy protection that gets in the customer's way
The licence is a signed piece of text, checked against a key inside the program. No activation server that gets switched off in five years. Technically it could be passed on; the buyer's name is written into it.

Aktenlage grew out of my own paperwork. The rules it works by come from running it, not from a design document.
The first run with real paper turned up five errors no test had found. An IBAN broke on a single misread character. Invoice numbers turned into postcodes. Document splitting worked for the wrong reason.
Hence the three rules: it deletes nothing, every field carries the place in the text it came from, and a human has to approve. That costs time. For documents you need years later, I think it is worth it.

What Aktenlage cannot do

The program itself is in German
Menus, buttons and messages are German throughout; there is no English interface yet. The documents it reads can be in any language the text recognition handles, but operating it needs some German.
Deadlines are suggestions
For every deadline it finds, the program shows the exact wording it came from. Statutory periods, deemed-service rules and public-holiday rules are not modelled. Every deadline has to be checked against the original document.
Text recognition gets things wrong
Recognition, splitting, category and sender all make mistakes. No particular recognition rate is promised. Every document is put up for confirmation.
No substitute for a backup
Saving to a file and mirroring to a network drive are copy functions, not a backup strategy. Backing up the archive stays your own responsibility.
One machine, one user
The search index sits as a file in the archive. Several workstations on a network drive at the same time lead to locking trouble.
No PDF/A certificate
The PDFs carry what PDF/A-2b asks for: embedded colour profile, marking in the XMP, complete metadata. That is not a verified statement of conformance.
No statement on tax-audit compliance
Aktenlage is built for your own documents, not as audit-proof archiving under German tax rules (GoBD).
One-time calibration for double-sided scanning. Every device delivers the two images of a sheet in its own order, and no device specification states which. As long as that order is unknown, duplex stacks go into the review stack without pairing. One calibration run with three sheets of paper settles it for good.

One installer, no administrator rights. The language model is fetched at first start at the push of a button. The first 50 pages run without a licence.

The package is not code-signed. Windows will speak up on first launch; „More info“ and „Run anyway“ carry on. With Smart App Control switched on, Windows 11 may block the launch altogether.
What the machine needs
- Windows 10 from version 1809, or Windows 11, 64-bit.
- WebView2 for the program window. Present on Windows 11; on Windows 10 the installer asks for it.
- A scanner with a TWAIN or WIA driver. On many devices double-sided scanning only works over TWAIN.
- About 5 GB of disk space for the program, about 10 GB with the language model.
- No administrator rights. It installs into your own user directory.

Uninstalling leaves everything in place except the program folder.
Why the package is so large
Since 1.5.0 the service for the language model ships with it. The model itself does not: it is about 5 GB, and an installer file may be at most 4.2 GB. It is fetched at first launch, at the press of a button.
Without the model everything rule-based keeps working: scanning, text recognition, splitting, areas, IBAN, dates, amounts, search. Only titles and summaries come out shorter.

Order enquiries and questions go through this form. The enquiry is not binding; the licence is made out to the name given.
How an order runs
- Non-binding enquiry through the form.
- Offer by e-mail with invoice, terms of use and withdrawal policy; the billing address is asked for at that point.
- Accepting the offer by e-mail concludes the contract.
- Payment by bank transfer. The licence follows by e-mail no later than two working days after payment arrives.
- The licence is pasted into the program under „Lizenz“.

49 € final price. As a small business under § 19 UStG I do not show VAT. No further costs arise.
